Happy First Birthday to Duple Dragon
From Hatchlings to Once Around the Sun
A year ago today we released Duple Dragon. That day marked the end of a nearly three year journey. We spent countless nights and weekends on the project, squeezing out any development time we could in our spare time, despite our busy lives. In that time all of us moved multiple times, started and left jobs, survived a global pandemic, and one of us even got married. A constant through it all was working on this project together.
This quest was quite the roller coaster, but we pulled it off. Duple Dragon was our first release as a team (the first published game ever for two of us), and we learned an incredible amount doing it. As we look to the future, we hope to make many more games over the years and someday turn this into our full-time jobs. For today, though, we celebrate Duple Dragon and look back proudly on what we accomplished together.
If you’re one of the many friends and family who helped us test the game, we thank you again for that help, and for following our development to this day. If you’re a newcomer to the game, Welcome, we’re ecstatic to have you. Duple Dragon was a labor of love, and we hope you’ll enjoy playing it.
We had planned to release a big update to the game today, but in the end we’ve decided to spend a little more time on it. Don’t worry— it’s still coming soon, and it’s going to be bigger than ever!
Small Anniversary Update Delay
(but it’s even bigger and better now)
Last month we showed you our list of planned features for our anniversary update—a modest list of visual improvements to the game. Well, we couldn’t help ourselves and in the time since writing that post we’ve added many, many other improvements big and small to the game. We’re nearly done, but to make sure we have time to properly test and polish everything we’re delaying the release slightly.
Our plan is to release as soon as possible, potentially in the next couple of weeks if everything goes smoothly. We don’t want to release something broken, though, so we’ll be taking the time to iron out all of the bugs.
We’re still finalizing the update, but you can expect a variety of visual and UX improvements, major improvements to powers, and more. Most of these improvements are already working internally, and we can’t help but feel like this patch will be a true 2.0 release for Duple Dragon. We’ll be taking the next two weeks to squash every bug we can find. We hope you’ll give the new update a shot when it releases. Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to hear when the new update is live.
