It’s Working!
If you saw our last post, and especially if you’ve been following the tumultuous saga of trying to launch Duple Dragon 2.0, you’ll understand our hesitance to say anything is 100% certain with this project, but as of now we have successfully built the game and deployed it to our own phones internally.
Caleb is heads-down this week with his day job, and Ian is about to leave for a vacation, but we wanted to celebrate the positive developments with the game and release a quick video to show some things off at last.
Out With the Old and in With the New
Some of the most visible changes in 2.0 come in the form of upgrades to the in-game stages you fly through. Here’s a simple before and after video showing the stages from every environment in the game side by side. We think the improvements will be clear!
What’s Changed?
While this isn’t an exhaustive list, here are some of the highlights you’re seeing in the video that have changed in 2.0:
- Stages curve back and forth as you fly.
- The terrain and environments have had a number of visual upgrades (especially obvious on environment 3 in the video, the waterfront market environment).
- Stages can now have different color schemes.
- The camera now shakes when you hit hazards.
- The camera now flys in at the start of a stage, and looks up at the sky as fireworks go off above at the end. You can see this in the clip at the start, and the end, respectively.
- And some other smaller things, including upgraded power visuals, a “High Speed” label when you’re going really fast, and a new layout for power buttons.
Can you spot anything else?
More in the Works
This was just a quick and dirty preview due to our packed schedules this week, but we’ve been wanting to get some footage out to you for so long now we couldn’t resist.
Stay tuned for a more formal update once things are back to normal later in October.
– Caleb, Ian, and Souren
